What Difference Do I want to make?

I want to establish mankind as a space-faring society, with a robust space-based economy, and active space-based industries.

The Universe keeps throwing rocks at us. Meteorites, meteors, and recently, a comet passed by, only a little further away than the Moon. The question isn’t IF another Dinosaur-killer asteroid hits the Earth, but WHEN.

If we don’t have a robust space industry by then, most of life on Earth may once again be totally destroyed.

Only if we have a substantial amount of human directed space activity, will we have the resources available in space to deflect any inbound rocks.

To do that, we need to quit justifying space exploration as some wishy-washy amorphous need to explore, as if it is part of being human, and embrace the basic rule of economics: Every organism, organization, or system MUST bring in more resources and energy from their activities, than they expend on those activities in order to thrive and grow, or they starve and die.

If we are not developing more resources and energy from space development than we are spending, then our efforts in space will wither and die.

We must transfer space from being a governmental hobby, with subcontractors sucking from government contractors being called “Commercial Space”, to allow corporations and organizations to actually own and profit from developing resources on the Moon, asteroids and Mars. Our current international treaties prohibit that.

This is insanity. We have learned from centuries of history, that private ownership of property is the key to development. We can argue about whether the development is appropriate or not, or wasteful or not, or polluting or not. But government development is an oxymoron.  We need to change the current treaties to allow private ownership of resources on the Moon, and that will lead to development of Space industry.
